Social commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, says Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership brought significant developments to the country strongly disagreeing with the notion of removing Chakwera as MCP Leader due to the election loss.
Sunganimoyo said these accomplishments are demonstrating Chakwera’s commitment to Malawi’s development and the MCP values saying the recent election loss should not solely be attributed to him but faulting MCP NEC for their weaknesses in decision-making and planning contributed to the defeat.
He said some senior party leaders may have prioritized personal interests over the party’s potentially betraying the trust placed in them observing that removing Chakwera at this moment will be premature and potentially detrimental to the party’s rebuilding efforts.
Speaking through his writings, Sunganimoyo said Chakwera’s leadership brought progress in healthcare, education, infrastructure, roads, and economic growth through the provisions of NEEF loans and Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) –Mtukula pakhomo.
Sunganimoyo said Chakwera’s leadership and experience are invaluable assets that MCP members cannot afford to discard saying a new leader would face significant challenges in matching his popularity and influence.
He has urged the MCP to focus on resolving the NEC issues and allow Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to continue leading their beloved party saying together, they can rebuild and strengthen the party for future successes.
The commentator has asked President Chakwera to clarify his intentions to MCP followers observing that his silence after accepting the defeat in the recent elections, and the delay in making announcements has led to confusion and misinformation in the party.
“Many social media commentators have paused discussing your activities while some are focusing on Mc Bride Nkhalamba, suggesting you are paving the way for him, please could you confirm or deny this rumor? If true, we would appreciate guidance on how to support him,” said Sunganimoyo.
He said President Chakwera as a leader should give clear information arguing that prolonged silence can lead to misinformation, loss of supporter engagement, and confusion about party direction saying his clarity would help MCP members better understand his vision and rally behind him.
