During a motivational visit to the Central Bankers’ training session, Gangata emphasized that Silver Strikers are not just playing for the club, but representing the pride of the entire nation. He urged the players to show determination and discipline as they seek to secure a crucial home victory.

“This is more than just a football match; it’s about national pride,” said Gangata. “A win here will bring hope to Malawian football fans and increase your chances of reaching the group stages — something no local club has achieved in two decades.”

The Minister of State commended the players for their hard work and encouraged them to make history by breaking Malawi’s 20-year drought in continental competitions..

Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of Malawi Deputy Governor William Matambo—whose institution sponsors the club—commended Gangata for the encouragement, saying such visits play a key role in boosting team morale.

“The minister’s words will remind the players of the great responsibility they carry,” said Matambo. “We believe this motivation will inspire them to deliver a strong performance and secure victory.”

Silver Strikers are the only Malawian team in this year’s CAF Champions League and carry the hopes of the nation. Fans across the country are expected to turn up in large numbers at Bingu Stadium to support the team as they face Tanzanian giants Yanga SC in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
