Government says it is fully aware of the fuel shortages currently being experienced across the country assuring the public that it is firmly on top of the matter saying the challenge has resulted mainly from logistical disruptions along the main supply routes through Tanzania.

Updating the nation on the current fuel supply situation, Minister of Information and Communications Technology Hon. Shadric Namalomba MP, says Government has already taken decisive action to normalize the situation.

Namalomba says deliveries are currently being processed, and normal fuel supply is expected to resume shortly acknowledging continued patience and cooperation from the public and assuring the nation that efforts are being made to ensure stable and sustainable fuel availability across the country.

And reporting live from Songwe Border, Karonga based rights activist Comrade Lytone Mangochi, has confirmed that fuel tankers accompanied by Tanzanian soldiers are arriving at the Songwe Border on their way to Malawi.

Comrade Mangochi said the elections in Tanzania which resulted to political unrest has contributed to fuel shortages in Malawi claiming that no vehicles were allowed to move in the streets as they were reported running battles between the police and citizens.

He said from Thursday 6th November, 2025 businesses will come back to normal saying the Tanzanian government has announced new business hours from 06;00 a.m to 3;00 P.M praying to God that this is now better for business people of the two countries Tanzania and Malawi.

The activist has dismissed claims which are being made by few misguided people that the fuel shortage situation in Malawi is as a result of unrealistic promises by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the DPP led government.

“Take politics out from fuel shortages in Malawi, internal problems of Tanzania should not be part and parcel of Malawi politics, “said Mangochi.

He has finally apologized to all business people of Tanzania and Malawi that the closure of the Songwe Border affected them as they have suffered a lot praying to God to wish business people a good journey going to and from Tanzania for various businesses.
