Human Rights bodies in Tanzania- Sauti ya waTanzania, says only truth can lead to reconciliation and there can be no genuine dialogue without justice and accountability saying Tanzanians do not recognize the 29th October, 2025 elections.

Human Rights bodies said the position of not respecting the 2025 elections has been echoed by the United Nations, the European Union, SADC observers, the African Union and multiple human rights bodies that the election has no legitimacy, mediating its results, is impossible.

The Rights bodies have expressed their concerns over the suitability of Malawi President Reverend Dr. Lazarus Chakwera observing that his tenure in Malawi was marred by multiple corruption scandals, governance challenges, and internal instability.

They have claimed that many Tanzanians lack confidence in former Malawi president Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s neutrality, integrity, and capability to spearhead such a sensitive process observing that this moment requires a mediator of the highest impartiality, credibility, and moral authority.

“We respectfully reject this Envoy from Malawi- Dr. Lazarus Chakwera,” reads part of the Tanzanian Human Rights bodies statement in part.

The Rights bodies have noted with regret that the Envoy- Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his team is already present in Tanzania and has been for 2 days, yet their engagements have been exclusively with government officials without any attempt to meet victims’ families, Civil Society or ordinary citizens who suffered the consequencies of the post- election violence.

The Rights organizations in Tanzania have claimed that the crisis they have gone through is not a political dispute, despite how it is currently being framed saying this is a human- rights catastrophe- a direct confrontation between a system that has violently suppressed by its own people.

The Human Rights bodies in Tanzania have expressed their deep concern over ordinary Tanzanians, thousands of whom were killed in the post- election violence regardless of political party affiliations.
A concerned citizen of Malawi Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, has expressed hope that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will address the nation of what exactly transpired in Tanzania leading to his rejection as a mediator.

Kaliza said what was witnessed in Tanzania could have been witnessed in Malawi in the post- election violence if President Chakwera won the 16th September, 2025 elections claiming that many people could have been slaughtered on the necks as animals.

She has thanked God the Almighty for siding with Malawians that have been praying very had asking for God’s favor not to allow President Chakwera and his MCP bouncing back into government, God was angry with Chakwera for not listening to the cries of his people.
