Malawi, UNDP Chart New Path for Enhanced Development Cooperation

Vice President Right Honourable Dr. Jane Mayemu Ansah, SC, JA (Retired), on Wednesday hosted UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Fenella Frost at Capital Hill in Lilongwe.

The courtesy meeting offered a platform for the two leaders to reflect on Malawi’s development priorities and identify new areas where collaboration can be strengthened.

During their engagement, both offices examined the progress of programmes currently being implemented across the country.

They also explored fresh opportunities for partnership, particularly those aligned with national goals outlined in the Malawi 2063 agenda.

Key themes in their discussion included improved governance, building national resilience, expanding social protection mechanisms, and promoting sustainable development initiatives.

Ms. Frost reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to standing with Malawi as it works toward long-term economic and social transformation.

She stressed that the organisation remains dedicated to partnering with the government to deliver programmes that positively impact communities.

Vice President Ansah expressed her appreciation for the continued support Malawi receives from UNDP.

She acknowledged the agency’s vital contribution to strengthening national systems and empowering Malawians through capacity-building initiatives.

The meeting highlighted the importance of coordinated development efforts and renewed the joint resolve to advance Malawi’s progress through strategic and impactful cooperation.
