Blantyre, Malawi – Walter Nyamilandu has pledged an ambitious development agenda for Chididi’s swing zone after securing victory, promising that his leadership will be driven by action rather than words.

In an emotional message to his supporters, Nyamilandu thanked the people of Chididi for their trust, describing their support as both humbling and motivating.
“Thank you from the depths of my heart, Chididi, the swing zone that carried my victory. Your trust humbles me. My actions will speak far louder than any words,” Nyamilandu said.
Focus on Grassroots Development
Nyamilandu outlined key priorities that he said will shape his leadership, focusing heavily on basic services and infrastructure that directly affect daily life for citizens.

Among the top items on his agenda are:
Provision of fertiliser and maize support to strengthen food security
Construction of the long-awaited Mwana Lundu Bridge
Deployment of ambulances to improve emergency health services
Installation of electricity transformers to expand power access
Drilling of boreholes to improve access to clean water
Building of new school blocks
Expansion of mobile network coverage
Upgrading of road infrastructure
“Not Here to Tick Boxes”

Nyamilandu emphasised that his leadership would not be driven by political optics, but by tangible, lasting impact.
“I am not here to tick boxes; I am here to leave an indelible mark,” he said.
High Expectations from Voters
Residents of Chididi have long complained about poor roads, limited access to health services and unreliable electricity and water supply. Many have welcomed Nyamilandu’s commitments but say they will be closely watching to see if the promises translate into action.
Political analysts say Nyamilandu’s pledges reflect growing pressure on elected leaders to deliver visible development as public demand for accountability continues to rise across the country.
As celebrations continue in Chididi, the focus is now shifting from victory to delivery — and whether Nyamilandu can turn promises into reality.
