Mzimba, Malawi — The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has sent a clear message to Mzimba Central MP Vitumbiko Mumba: don’t rush into leaving the party.
Deputy Prophet Ken Msonda told Mumba that MCP is a “party called by God” and urged him to carefully weigh his options before making any decisions. Msonda emphasized that the party needs young, thoughtful leaders like Mumba, whose unique abilities make him an asset to MCP.
Mumba had hinted that he might remain an independent MP unless his constituents advise otherwise. But Msonda warned that those pressuring him to accept a government position without consultation are only trying to damage his political reputation. “His invitation to stay with MCP still stands,” he said.
This comes amid growing speculation about potential shifts in Malawi’s political landscape, as parties look to secure key leaders in strategic constituencies.
