The pledge comes amid growing concerns over persistent transport challenges faced by communities in the area, where patients are often forced to travel long distances under difficult conditions to access emergency medical care.

Speaking to residents, Nyamilandu said the decision was motivated by the need to address a long-standing gap in health service delivery.

“I am committed to fulfilling all the promises I made to the people of Nsanje South West. You entrusted me with leadership on 16 September, and I will honour that trust through action,” he said.

Residents have welcomed the announcement, describing the ambulance as a timely and potentially lifesaving intervention that will greatly improve response time during medical emergencies.

Nyamilandu, who recently joined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), said the constituency is set to undergo visible transformation through a series of development initiatives focused on health, infrastructure, and social services.

He added that the ambulance pledge marks the beginning of a broader development agenda aimed at improving the quality of life for people in Nsanje South West.
