As President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and DPP ministers are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ wishing the entire nation a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2026, a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has called on President Professor Mutharika to give himself a one- minute silence to honor genuine activists and journalists in the country.
Kamphangala said this one-minute silence will be for President Professor Mutharika to appreciate the role which were taken by activists such as comrade Bon Kalindo, Lyton Mangochi, Bishop Kachenje, Bakili Muluzi TV, Ntanyiwa, Pastor Moses Shumba and genuine journalists such as Burnett Munthali, Suleman Chitera, and Jones Gadama, among others.
He has dedicated this festive season to these genuine activists and journalists that without them to sacrifice their lives releasing audios and writing news stories speaking nothing but the truth that Malawians were sick and tired with President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership, Professor Mutharika could not have won the 16th September, 2025 elections with a landslide victory.
The MCP diehard said apart from these genuine activists and journalists, there were social media commentators such as Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira, Dr. Samuel Lwara, Hon. Kamlepo Kalua and JB of USA, saying these people contributed their roles towards political change in Malawi.
He said these people had no security to guard them but they were speaking on behalf of all the voiceless citizens of Malawi that they wanted change and this change which they hard fought for has come but President Professor Mutharrika and the DPP have not appreciated their role.
Kamphangala has reminded President Professor Mutharika that with only three words in Chichewa “Munandisowa eti, Mwakhaula eti and Simudzayambiranso eti” Malawians were fully convinced that Professor Mutharika was the right choice to liberate them from slavery of the MCP and President Chakwera.
He said genuine activists and journalists are still releasing audios and writing news stories using their personal resources for the love of President Professor Mutharika from deep down their hearts beside their roles not appreciated.
The MCP diehard has pleaded with President Professor Mutharika to appreciate the work of these genuine activists and journalists by giving them a token of appreciation – words only, that they did a good job to make sure that the MCP and President Chakwera is ousted from power on the 16th September, 2025 elections.
“Had the MCP and President Chakwera won the 16th September, 2025 elections, these genuine activists and journalists would by this festive season been smelling dust in the grave,” said Kamphangala.
He has appealed to President Professor Mutharika and the entire DPP machinery to have senses of humanity that throwing away these people who fought for them into power to the rubbish pit, the DPP will not find peace in the 5 years of power.
Kamphangala has finally appealed to DPP ministers Alfred Gangata, Dr. George Chaponda, Dr. Jean Mathanga, Mary Thom Navicha, Dr. Joseph Mwanamvekha, and many others, to wear human faces, rescue these genuine activists and journalists from their daily lives pain and sufferings that they should not feel forgotten, used and dumped.
