Social media influencer Mneneri Joshua Chisa Mbele through his face book page has questioned big- headed Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Lawyers where are they when his Brother Richard Chimwendo Banda is literally abandoned?
When police arrested 17 MCP panga wielding thugs who were terrorizing and hacking innocent people in Lilongwe and surrounding places, MCP ministers Dr. Jessie Kabwila and Moses Kunkuyu were being seen moving up and down with MCP Lawyers processing court bail to be granted.
And when Chimwendo Banda was arrested and remanded at Maula Prison waiting for a High Court of Malawi decision to grant him bail, only Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba accompanied by some MCP officials visited him at Maula Prison.
Writing on his page, Chisa Mbele has claimed that nobody of MCP high profile has come to see Chimwendo Banda at Maula Prison speaking for itself that he was used by the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and dumped.
A concerned MCP Constituency Vice Secretary for Lilongwe City speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Chimwendo Banda and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera are the ones who have destroyed the good image of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
The Secretary said many Malawians were attracted to join the MCP with trust that man of God and ordained Priest Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will take the party to transformation after promising to do things differently from the past atrocities.
He said many Malawians hoped the MCP under President Chakwera would be a born- again political party but the coming in of Chimwendo Banda to take up the position of the party’s Secretary General, worsen-up the History of the MCP.
The Secretary has claimed that Chimwendo Banda was the country’s Prime Minister, he was the master-minder of everything in the party even running government itself and today, many people who were being seen as useless in the party, cannot have time to visit him at Maula Prison.
He said many MCP members and supporters are wishing Chimwendo Banda not to be granted court bail on the claims that he did not have the welfare of MCP family at heart only enriching himself at the expense of the poor people in Malawi.
“Chimwendo Banda deserve to rot in prison, he was Malawi’s second dictator after Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda,” said the source.
He has finally appealed to MCP National Executive Committee (NEC) members to organize a meeting for the District MCP Chairmen to map the way forward to expel President Chakwera and Chimwendo Banda from the party as part of rebuilding the party from destruction by the two.
He has warned MCP NEC that continued to have President Chakwera and Chimwendo Banda in the MCP, a new political party will be born in the central region of Malawi out of frustrations and will take all MCP members and supporters leaving the mighty MCP to be a briefcase- typed political party in Malawi.
“Anthu oipa kwambiri,” reads his writings on the wall expressing his concern that hundreds of MCP members and supporters who thronged the Lilongwe Magistrate Court to give morale to the arrested MCP panga wielding thugs, are nowhere to be seen visiting Chimwendo Banda.
