Vanessa Sisters, Lioness, and Baby Eagles will represent the Central Region at the national finals of the Mukuru Under-21 netball tournament following an intense regional showdown in Lilongwe.
The decisive Central Region final took place on Sunday at Don Bosco in Lilongwe, where Vanessa Sisters produced a composed and clinical performance to defeat Lioness 29–19, sealing the regional title in convincing fashion.
As champions, Vanessa Sisters walked away with a top prize of MK1 million. Lioness, finishing as runners-up, received MK700,000, while Baby Eagles earned MK500,000 for securing third place. The prize distribution underscored the competitive depth and rising standards within the region’s Under-21 netball ranks.
Taleetha Jussab, Head of Marketing at Mukuru—the tournament’s sponsor—expressed satisfaction with the organisation and quality of play witnessed during the Central Region phase.
Jussab noted that the national finals, scheduled for Blantyre, are expected to be fiercely contested and will provide a crucial platform to identify and nurture emerging netball talent among young female athletes.
With momentum firmly on their side, the Central Region representatives now turn their focus to the national stage, where pride, prestige, and future opportunities will be on the line.
