Rights activist JB based in the United States of America (USA), has called on the DPP led government under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to freeze all bank accounts for suspected MCP members believed to have syphoned billions of Kwachas from government coffers.
JB said truth to be told the MCP did not come into government for servant leadership as promised during their campaign trails but to get rich at the expense of the poor country and its citizens observing that some MCP ministers and senior government officials are millionaires over a night.
He said raising Pay As You Earn (PAYE) taxes, fuel prices to 41 percent and other taxes, is not a solution to the country’s challenges observing that people are feeling pain in their hearts while those who have stolen a lot of money from government are enjoying their money.
Speaking through a video clip from USA, JB said it is sad that the DPP led government has left the MCP culprits Bank Accounts open as was yesterday saying he would have loved that when arresting people suspected of corruption in government, their bank accounts must be frozen too.
JB has warned the DPP and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that leaving suspected MCP thieves Bank accounts open as it is being seen today, in 2030 they will use the same money which they stole from government to corrupt people to vote for them into power.
He has told DPP leaders that MCP is busy holding press conferences, party rallies and distributing handouts to those patronizing its rallies speaking to itself that these MCP people have hidden money somewhere in and outside the country.
The activist said there is no way Malawians can be suffering with high taxes on their heads because of crooks of the MCP who have stolen billions from government and that government is paying back the loans through taxes of the poor people.
He has asked the DPP led government to arrest corrupt MCP members and take them to courts and once the courts have proved them guilty, they should not be thrown into jail but their property be confiscated and forfeited to government.
“Let us sacrifice these MCP thieves for the sake of Malawi, every country is busy developing on its own apart from Malawi, corruption has blanketed the country,” said JB.
He has advised the DPP and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika that when he is rebuilding the country, he should use money from property confiscated and forfeited to government and not punishing people to pay high taxes while those responsible for destroying the country, are not arrested.
JB has asked the DPP led government and President Professor Mutharika to feel mercy on Malawians that receiving reduced salaries by K6000, hiking electricity, fuel, and water bills is very painful to see the perpetrators of all this not arrested to pay back what they stole in government.
He has finally appealed to Malawians to love their country more than they love themselves, to build their country together, and to make sure that those who stole billions of Kwachas from government coffers have been arrested, their property confiscated and forfeited to government saying this is the only way of addressing high punitive taxes.
