Muluzi slams president’s SONA as empty words

The United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi has criticised President Peter Mutharika’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered on Friday, saying it failed to offer concrete solutions to Malawi’s economic challenges.

Muluzi said the speech did not reflect the harsh economic reality facing Malawians in the country.

“What Malawians needed was a clear, urgent and practical plan to turn things around,” said Muluzi.

Muluzi outlined the UDF’s priorities, including stabilising the economy, supporting businesses, creating jobs and restoring trust in public finances.

“Leadership must be measured not by the length of speeches, but by the strength of results.

“Together, we can restore hope. Together, we can rebuild our economy. Together, we can move Malawi forward,” said Muluzi, calling for decisive action to address the country’s economic woes.
