Airtel Malawi has reiterated its dedication to the growth of football in the country, as the curtain came down on a thrilling and record-breaking Airtel Top 8 Season 8.
Speaking during an awards ceremony held Wednesday evening in Blantyre, Airtel Malawi Managing Director Aashish Dutt emphasized the company’s continued investment in sports development and its broader mission to connect Malawians for economic progress.
“Our commitment goes beyond business—we believe in empowering communities through sport and connectivity,” Dutt said.
The event, held in partnership with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), celebrated standout performers from a season that has been widely hailed as one of the most exciting in recent years.
FAM President Fleetwood Haiya described the campaign as historic, highlighting the unprecedented turnout during the final match between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
“For the first time, we witnessed such an overwhelming crowd at the Airtel Top 8 final. This shows the growing passion and support for local football,” said Haiya.
He further applauded Airtel for its unwavering partnership, expressing confidence that the collaboration will continue to elevate the game to greater heights.
On the pitch, it was a night of celebration for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets defender Blessings Mpokera, who was crowned Player of the Season following a string of outstanding performances throughout the competition.
The Airtel Top 8 continues to cement its place as one of Malawi’s premier football competitions, blending corporate support with sporting excellence and fan engagement.
