A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has accused the Anti – Corruption Bureau (ACB) of arresting high profile suspects without concluding their cases.
Kamphangala said the arrests of these high profile suspects are only meant for Malawians to trust that the ACB is alive and kicking but not concluding cases.
He has challenged the new government to prove to Malawians of how many arrests it has made of high profile suspects since President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika was ushered into government have reached prosecutions and imprisonment?
The MCP diehard said prisons in Malawi were built for the poor people to accommodate while the rich people only spend days and walk to freedom.
He said he finds no truth that Malawi is advocating for the rule of all law while the rule of law itself is only favoring the rich people with money to buy justice and freedom.
Kamphangala has suspected that the ACB was established just to fool the world that Malawi has the institution of arresting and prosecuting suspects involved in corruption related cases..
He said if the ACB was established to serve its mandate, all those that committed minor offenses such as stealing chickens, sugarcanes, and found in possession of pangolins, would have by today been released from the country’s prisons.
The MCP diehard said the five years of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera saw party loyalists committing atrocities warranting to imprisonment with hard labor but to this day, no one is in prison.
He said by today, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera could have been arrested to be questioned on why the Public Service Pension Trust Fund was operated for 14 months without him appointing a Board of Trustees, but to this day, there’s nothing.
The MCP diehard has proposed for a disbandment of the ACB for its failure to prosecute high profile suspects only arresting them for no impact.
” It is time wasting and public resources wasting to have an institution which is failing to honor its mandate,” said Kamphangala.
He said the proposal for the disbandment of the ACB should be extended to Human Rights Defenders Coalition ( HRDC) for being the mouth – piece of a political party- the MCP.
The MCP diehard has expressed hope that President Professor Mutharika will take heed of his advises to order for the disbandment of the ACB and HRDC for condoning corruption and not living to the expectations of the citizens.
He has finally appealed to Malawians regardless of their political party affiliations to join the Movement of calling for the disbandment of the ACB and HRDC saying these two institutions have destroyed the good image of the country.
