He said many Malawians are being arrested and placed in detention camps without food and water and at no time the Malawi High Commission and the Consulate General send their officials to appreciate the pain and sufferings of detained Malawians.
The citizen has claimed that Malawians themselves living in South Africa have been mobilizing resources to buy food and give it to the detained citizens in detention camps for their survival.

He has described as shame to the Malawi High Commission and Consulate General for releasing a statement dated 5th May, 2026 on public safety advisory to Malawian nationals in South Africa.
In the press statement, the two offices claimed to have received disturbing reports of increasing attacks targeting foreign nationals in certain parts of South Africa.

In the statement, all Malawians have been strongly urged to remain alert and take precautions such as to always carry valid identification documents, avoid overcrowded areas, limit unnecessary movement especially in high – risk areas, and to contact the South African police or Emergency Services in case of danger or attack.
The statement says for emergency assistance, they should contact Malawi High Commission ( Pretoria) on +27123420146 and Malawi Consulate General in Johannesburg on +27112746424.
” The mission is closely monitoring the situation and remains in constant communications with the authorities in Malawi regarding the situation,” reads the statement in part.
Msanjama said the Malawi High Commission office has done nothing to alleviate the sufferings of citizens caught
trapped without valid identification documents such as passports, permits or visas.
He has proposed to the Malawi Government the name of Bantu Saunders Jumah to be appointed as Malawi’s High Commissioner to South Africa saying this man has the welfare of Malawian nationals living illegally in South Africa.

The citizen has claimed that Bantu Saunders Jumah has been visiting the Malawi High Commission in South Africa on how best the office can do to help Malawians trapped in Xenophobic activities including visiting detention camps to provide a little food he has prepared to the detained Malawians in South African detention camps.
” If Saunders Jumah can be appointed to the office of the High Commissioner in South Africa, it will be blessings in disguise, Malawians living in South Africa will praise government for a good appointment,” said Msanjama.
When contacted, Bantu Saunders Jumah, said he is equally concerned with the situation Malawians are sailing through in South Africa saying he can do his best for Malawians living in South Africa to have peace and enjoy living in a foreign country.
” I know the pain Malawians are going through in South Africa, many of these have no passports, permits and visas,” lamented Jumah.
