Paramount Chief Lundu of Chikwawa has launched a fierce attack on the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), accusing the opposition party of allegedly spreading false and dangerous rumors aimed at creating fear, panic, and instability in the Shire Valley districts of Chikwawa and Nsanje.

Speaking at Nchalo Sekeni Grounds during a civic awareness event on the dangers of mob justice and violence, Paramount Chief Lundu condemned the recent wave of rumors surrounding alleged cases of missing male genital parts, describing the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

The traditional leader questioned why such alarming rumors never surfaced during the five years of the MCP administration but are now emerging under the leadership of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

According to Paramount Chief Lundu, the timing of the rumors raises serious suspicions about a coordinated effort to damage the image and credibility of the ruling DPP in the Lower Shire region, where the party continues to enjoy strong support.

He warned communities against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that mob violence fueled by misinformation could lead to the loss of innocent lives and destabilize peaceful communities.

The chief further urged residents of Chikwawa and Nsanje to reject propaganda, remain calm, and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies instead of spreading fear through unverified claims.
