BWB CEO Investigates Sharp Decline in Water Consumption at Mapeto DWSM

Blantyre Water Board (BWB) Chief Executive Officer, Yeremiah Chihana, on Friday visited Mapeto DWSM Limited to investigate a significant drop in the company’s water consumption, which has reportedly fallen from 25 million litres to just 500,000 litres per month.

During the visit, Mapeto DWSM Operations Manager, Yazeen Ramzan, explained that the company has diversified its water sources by utilizing boreholes and implementing a water recycling system. He took Chihana and other BWB officials on a tour of some of the company’s seven boreholes and its water recycling plant.

According to Ramzan, the alternative water sources and recycling initiatives have significantly reduced the company’s dependence on water supplied by Blantyre Water Board.

Ramzan assured the BWB delegation that the company would comply with the directive and work closely with the board to ensure transparency in water usage.
