Police in Neno have apprehended Justin Kalimu Pofela, a 26-year-old man, on charges that he allegedly murdered his friend’s wife after being hired to do so by the husband
Neno police deputy spokesperson, Rebecca Msoliza said that the victim, Damalesi Harry, was 23 years old at the time of her death, which occurred in December 2022 following her separation from her husband.
“On May 24th, 2023, the suspect was apprehended, and during the subsequent interrogation, he confessed to being contracted by the deceased’s husband to carry out the killing. The pair successfully executed their plan, after which they buried her body in a nearby bush and planted a banana tree to conceal the crime,” said Msoliza.
The suspect received a partial payment of K8000 out of the agreed-upon sum of K50,000 for the execution of the mission.

A postmortem conducted by a forensic clinical officer from Neno District Hospital revealed that the cause of death was severe bleeding resulting from a knife wound to the neck.
Pofela’s accomplice, Stainnly Likupe, remains at large. The suspect originates from Makanani village in the jurisdiction of Senior Chief Mlauli within the district.
