Since gaining independence in 1964, the Malawi National Football team has struggled to make a mark in the African Cup of Nations qualifying games, and this year seems no different.

The team’s recent loss to Burundi has sparked fears among soccer enthusiasts that they may finish the qualifying games without a single win.

The team’s next challenge is a tough one – a match against the formidable Burkina Faso in Ougadougou, followed by a double header against Senegal.

Several soccer analysts have made the point clear that with the difficult matches looming, it’s likely that the team will be officially eliminated from the competition by Match Day 4.

The team’s performance has been marred by individual defensive errors, leading to conceding three goals in a single game against the stallions of Burkina Faso raising concerns about their ability to secure a win in their upcoming matches.

The possibility of completing an AFCON campaign without a win is a bleak one, and the team will need to regroup and refocus if they hope to turn their fortunes around.
