BLANTYRE, Malawi – Sparc Systems Limited and Beit Cure Malawi have unveiled an ambitious fundraising campaign aimed at raising K400 million to finance life-changing corrective orthopaedic surgeries for 256 children currently on the hospital’s waiting list.

The initiative marks a renewed commitment between the two organizations, which have collaborated successfully in previous years to improve access to specialized healthcare for children living with treatable disabilities.Sparcs Pumps K5 Million Into ICTAM 2023 Expo

Speaking to Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) following the announcement of the partnership, Sparc Systems Limited Managing Director Wisely Phiri said the company remains dedicated to supporting Beit Cure Malawi’s mission of restoring hope and mobility to children affected by orthopaedic conditions.

Phiri noted that while the partnership is not new, this year’s campaign represents a significant milestone due to the ambitious fundraising target attached to the initiative.

“We have worked with Beit Cure Malawi before, and we have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact that these surgeries have on children’s lives. This year, we are raising the bar by targeting K400 million to ensure that more children receive the medical care they urgently need,” said Phiri.Sparc System Limited Launches Seven-Storey Complex with Data Center in Lilongwe

He praised Beit Cure Malawi for its longstanding commitment to serving vulnerable children, highlighting the hospital’s track record of providing life-changing surgeries to thousands of underprivileged patients across the country.

Dr. Kriek said the hospital is optimistic that Sparc Systems’ extensive network within the private sector will help mobilize resources and attract additional corporate partners willing to support the cause.

“We believe that by working together with Sparc Systems and leveraging their strong relationships within the business community, we can raise the necessary funds to give these children a chance at a better life,” she said.

She emphasized that many of the children on the waiting list are living with conditions that can be successfully treated through surgery, enabling them to walk, attend school, and participate fully in society.

The fundraising campaign will feature several high-profile events designed to engage corporate organizations, philanthropists, and members of the public.

Among the planned activities are a fundraising golf tournament scheduled for August and a gala dinner set for October. Organizers expect the events to attract significant support from Malawi’s business community and other stakeholders passionate about improving children’s healthcare.Start Your Day the Delicious Way with Ekhaya Farms Foods!

The K400 million target is expected to cover surgical procedures, medical supplies, rehabilitation services, and other essential healthcare costs associated with treating the 256 children currently awaiting operations.

For many families, the surgeries represent a rare opportunity to access specialized treatment that would otherwise be financially out of reach.
