Political analyst Wonderful Mkhutche has suggested that there is a strong possibility that the United Democratic Front (UDF) could enter into an alliance with the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) as the country approaches next year’s general elections.
“It is evident that UDF will join forces with MCP, especially considering what transpired at the opposition press conference in Lilongwe,” Mkhutche remarked.
However, UDF spokesperson Dyson Jangiya has dismissed claims of an impending alliance, stating that the party has no current plans for a coalition. He added that should any alliance occur, the UDF leader would be the one to head it.
Jangiya urged the public to stop spreading false information, noting that such rumors only serve to create fear among the party’s followers.
