Former United Democratic Front–UDF president Atupele Muluzi has decided to remain mum on the new political campaign bearing his name.A photo of a minibus painted Friends of Atupele Muluzi Road to 2025 is circulating on social media.This is purportedly a campaign strategy ahead of the 2025 general election.In May this year, Muluzi quit politics saying he wanted to venture into business for the development of the country. The United Democrat Front says people will judge in 2025 if the current leadership has met the expectations of Malawians. Victoria Mponela, UDF Northern Region vice president, was speaking at chibsgu ground on Saturday at a public rally. Mponela said people should consider giving the party a chance to rule the country again, saying during the Bakili Muluzi era, people in the country were not facing a lot of challenges as it is currently. She then urged young democrats to maintain peace, saying the party is taking over from the current administration in 2025.
