Government bars public indecency in vehicles

Government has prohibited engaging in sexual activities in cars, citing public indecency and disturbance.

Peter Kalaya, Public Relations Officer for the Malawi Police Service, the ban aims to maintain public order and decency.

“The government has received numerous complaints about couples engaging in sexual activities in cars, often in public spaces,” Kalaya said.

“This behavior is not only indecent but also disturbing to other members of the public.”

Kalaya warned that individuals caught engaging in such activities would face arrest and prosecution under the country’s laws governing public indecency.

“We urge the public to respect the law and maintain public decency,” Kalaya emphasized.

“We will not tolerate any behavior that disturbs the peace and tranquility of our communities.”

The ban has sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some supporting the move as a necessary measure to maintain public decency, while others have criticized it as an infringement on personal freedoms.

As the debate continues, the Malawi Police Service has vowed to enforce the ban, urging the public to report any incidents of public indecency.
