Kamphangala calls MCP members to defend their party from shame

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has called on genuine supporters of the MCP to join hands in defending the party from shame that other senior members of the party are doing in their own wishes to shame the party.

Kamphangala said it is heartbreaking to note that the MCP government is arresting people on drummed up political charges without proper investigations saying this has been proved by the courts granting bail to the defendants that bail is their right.

He said since 2020 when the MCP was ushered into government, about 20 corruption related cases against the opposition DPP members were heard in court and not even one has been concluded only shaming the party.

The MCP diehard said high profile cases such as that of arresting Dr. Patricia Kaliati, Norman Paulosi Chisale, Joseph Mwanamvekha, Dr. George Chaponda, Sameer Suleman , Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, and Alfred Gangata among others, will demand government to use taxpayers’ money to compensate them describing this as a reason Malawi is lagging behind in development.

He said there are piles of cases against activist Bon Kalindo and his colleagues, which have ended up in courts having them released after finding them not guilty in mobilizing the citizens to hold peaceful demonstrations, these people will also demand compensations from government.

Kamphangala said he learnt with a big shock and disbelief that is this the MCP arresting Sameer Suleman in a case sued by Baba Steven Malondera and why the State has come in to arrest him and what was the motive behind?

He said Suleman is the man of the people not only for the opposition DPP but the Chewa people whose Members of Parliament (MPs) from central region have been quiet in Parliament speaking nothing of no maize in ADMARC Depots only clapping hands at nonsense.

The MCP diehard has thanked Salima central constituency legislator Gerald Kapiseni for his question in Parliament which he asked President Chakwera to respond on a bag of fertilizer being sold at K105,000 saying the question itself deserve praise by all the Chewa people.

Kamphangala said President Chakwera responded to Kapiseni’s question that farmers should not worry with skyrocketing prices of fertilizer but to focus on their gain after selling their produce saying the response was not coming from the President but a leader.

“I join all those that are saying Malawi has no President but a leader, Chakwera was President of the country before appointing his first cabinet, and their after, he has become a leader,” he said.

He has finally appealed to the Chewas in the central region never and ever allow these incumbent Parliamentarians who have made President Chakwera a failure in his leadership to bounce into the National Assembly, this time around, they should vote for shadow MPs in their respective constituencies.
