The 10-episode drama, produced by renowned filmmaker Gift “Sukez” Sukali, captures elements of suspense, drama, and the rich cultural narratives that define Malawian storytelling.

Speaking about the digital release, Sukez expressed his excitement, emphasizing the importance of making Apongozi available beyond local television. “We are excited to officially release the 10 episodes of Apongozi. The series has been released on online platforms such as YouTube to accord people from different countries easy access to watch the 10 exciting episodes of the Malawian movie,” he said.

Sukez further pointed out that for years, Malawian audiences have been consuming foreign TV series, but now it is time to embrace locally produced content that reflects Malawian culture and societal dynamics. “Apongozi is not just about entertainment; it also conveys important moral values necessary for nurturing positive lifestyles,” he added.

The series boasts a remarkable cast, featuring legendary Malawian actress and musician, the late Maria Chidzanja-Nkhoma, alongside other notable actors such as Mildred Banda Mulindiwa, Jubeck Muonjeza, Robert Loughlin, and Elizabeth Molloy. Their performances bring to life the gripping and emotional stories that make Apongozi a must-watch.

With its move to online platforms, Apongozi is now accessible to a global audience, marking a significant step forward for Malawian cinema. This initiative not only provides entertainment but also serves as an opportunity for Malawian filmmakers to showcase their storytelling abilities on a larger scale.

As digital platforms continue to bridge the gap between local and international content, Apongozi stands as a testament to Malawi’s growing film industry. Fans of Malawian cinema can now enjoy this compelling drama from anywhere in the world, reinforcing the need to support and celebrate locally produced content.
