MCP’s political desperation: The unjust arrest of Alfred Gangata

By Comrade Jumbe

“A tree with deep roots stands firm against the strongest winds.”

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is making a grave mistake if it believes that using state power to suppress political opponents will secure its dominance.

History has shown time and again that oppressive tactics only hasten a regime’s downfall.

The arrest of Alfred Gangata is not about justice—it is a desperate act by a government that has already lost public confidence.

If MCP thinks that intimidation and persecution will guarantee victory in the upcoming elections, they are sorely mistaken.

Why Now? The People Are Not Blind

For years, Alfred Gangata has lived freely in Malawi without any legal issues.

Why, then, is he suddenly being targeted now, right after expressing interest in participating in the country’s democratic process?

The timing of this arrest raises serious questions.

Gangata has been drawing massive crowds, far larger than those gathered by Chimwendo Banda’s so-called “digitally engineered” supporters.

The people see through this game, and they are watching every move MCP makes.

The truth is clear—MCP is afraid.

The party knows its days in power are numbered and believes eliminating strong opponents will extend its survival.

But as the elders say, “No one can outrun the sun; its heat will catch up eventually.”

No amount of political manipulation can shield them from the will of the people.

MCP Has Lost Its Moral Standing

Malawi’s democracy was not handed to us—it was earned through struggle, sacrifice, and resilience.

Yet, MCP continues to trample on the freedoms that so many fought for.

If justice were truly served in this country, Gangata would not be behind bars—the real criminals would.

MCP’s history is stained with oppression, violence, and abuse of power.

If any political party should be permanently banned for its past and present actions, it is MCP.

“A pot that once brewed poison cannot be trusted with clean water.”

How can a party with such a legacy of brutality claim to lead a democratic nation?

The cries of the innocent still echo from the past, and yet, MCP persists in its oppressive ways.

But this time, Malawians will not stay silent.

A Message to MCP: The People Will Decide

Oppressive governments have fallen before, and MCP will
