A Malawi Congress Party (MCP)diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has encouraged MCP candidates who have lost primary elections not to lose heart, but to stand independent if they see themselves that they are capable to win.
Kamphangala said new MCP entries will find it hard to be voted in constituencies whose incumbent parliamentarians have invested much using corruption money from government and distribution of government resources to the beneficiaries as theirs.
He has advised parliamentary aspirants to try their luck till the last whistle is blown claiming that most of the incumbent parliamentarians are not wanted by their constituents but because they have been loyal to the party, the party is doing all of its best that they win the primaries.
The MCP diehard said it is the wish of each and every Malawian to see to it that the Malawi Parliament be flooded with new faces of new ideas and mindset change claiming that parliamentarians forget their role in parliament as they are seen serving the interests of their parties.
He said whether the MCP likes it or not, there will be independent candidates to be born out of frustrations due to undemocratic tendencies in the MCP where some MPs are taking themselves as more of MCP than the others.
Kamphangala has proposed that the new government coming on the 16th September, 2025 must slash MPs salaries by half saying the way the Parliament is looking today, is speaking for itself that for one to get rich, he has to join politics.
He said some people are leaving their jobs to join frontline politics as the only quick riches in the country saying if the new government slashes their salaries, these people would not quit their jobs to join politics, mindset change will be achieved in Malawi.
The MCP diehard said out of all the presidential aspirants, it is only Dr. Dalitso Kabambe and Bantu Saunders Jumah who can slash MP salaries by 50 percent and encouraging those frustrated to quit politics.
“Only Dr. Kabambe and Bantu Saunders Jumah of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) can bring the real transformation in the Malawi Parliament that whoever joins politics, is servant leadership and not one to get rich,” said Kamphangala.
He has appealed to Malawians to weigh the candidates before making their intelligent decisions of voting for them, advising them not to vote for a poor person like Kamphangala into the high office that what they have seen today, be a lesson of tomorrow.
