A Concerned citizen of Malawi residing at Area 50 in Lilongwe Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda, has advised the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) leadership to keep quiet saying whatever good they have for Malawi, Malawians cannot listen to them.

Kaliza Banda said Malawians have already linked the HRDC to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) sponsored organization observing that what the organization does, is to the benefit of the MCP and not Malawians that for 5 years have been praying for President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s removal from office.

She said for 5years of President Chakwera and the MCP, the HRDC was quiet, its members were all in the government sharing the cakes of government contracts and tenders enriching themselves at the expense of the suffering Malawians.

The concerned citizen has claimed that the HRDC is on record that for 5 years of President Chakwera and the MCP, it organized no peaceful demonstrations in the country while Malawians were sailing through pain and sufferings.

She said it would have been better for the HRDC to keep quiet just the same as they did with the 5 years of President Chakwera and the MCP saying releasing statements or holding press briefings will just be provoking and angering the citizens.

Addressing the media in Lilongwe on Saturday HRDC Chairperson Michael Kaiyatsa dismissed claims which are being made by some Malawians linking it to supporting the MCP while turning against the government of the DPP and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Kaiyatsa said HRDC is not a political party and it has no immediate plans of holding demonstrations in the country against the challenges the country is sailing through assuring Malawians that it will be monitoring DPP governance systems just the same as it was doing with the MCP led government.

However, Kaiyatsa told the media that its members are facing threats from political party supporters who are accusing the Coalition of favoring the MCP and opposing the current government of the DPP describing this as very unfortunate.

“We have established an initiative to help the Defenders Group members who receive threats, we will be offering them emergency security, legal aid, and psychosocial support,” he said.

Kaliza Banda said the challenges that the country is sailing through today, have not been started by the DPP and President Professor Mutharika saying they are man- made by the MCP so that after losing government, the new government finds nowhere to start in government.

She said it is shame that the MCP is hiding through the HRDC that Malawians should label the DPP and President Professor Mutharika a failure while them are the causative agents of all the challenges the country is facing.

The citizen has appealed to the new government to arrest and prosecute anyone without mercy observing that the country is in trouble today while the MCP and the HRDC are clapping hands that everything is well with them, Professor Mutharika has failed.

“Let Malawians of good thinking capabilities hold the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera accountable for all the challenges the country is sailing through not an innocent person, President Professor Mutharika.
