Veteran journalist speaking on a strict condition of anonymity, has called on activists and journalists who fought courageously for change of government from MCP to DPP not to lose heart, saying President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika would not be happy to see them suffering.

The journalist who once worked for the Daily Times newspaper as a senior reporter and established himself with other reputable international media outlets, expressed confidence that Professor Mutharika of today is different from that one the country had in 2014 to 2019, he will honor his promises to them.

He said Professor Mutharika is totally a different man than MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who promised but fail to fulfill what he promised.

The veteran journalist said as a senior reporter, him and others were allegedly promised to be deployed in different government institutions by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, saying this has never been fulfilled up to the time he was ousted from government through the people’s vote on the 16th September, 2025 elections.

He said he thought of reminding President Chakwera after he had openly told the rally in Ntcheu in 2021 on the public broadcaster- MBC the time he embarked on a failed crop inspection tour that he is allegedly not the type of a person who assists party supporters in return and that he would not manage to help all families from Nsanje to Chitipa.

The journalist said President Chakwera advised the party zealots to stop sending him messages asking for favors claiming that by by then, he allegedly received over 400 messages via his mobile phone describing this as an act that buffled not only the MCP diehards but the country at large.

He said as time goes, he wrote President Chakwera’s Media Executive Officer Sean Kampondeni to remind him on Chakwera’s promises to him only to be told that there are so many people who fought for Chakwera to be in government and he is not the only one.

The journalist said he did not give up, he booked an appointment with President Chakwera using relevant channels and procedures so that he can be told in person of what he has been reading that there’s no one in government who has his name in mind.

” God will provide an opportunity to answer all of what you have been asking,” reads the message allegedly from President Chakwera.

He said with the words from President Chakwera, he sat down waiting for that opportune time to be answered all of what he was promised and on a sad note, Chakwera lost government.

Activists such as Comrade Lytone Mangochi, Bishop Kachenje, Pastor Moses Shumba, Bakili Muluzi TV, and Ntanyiwa, have been complaining that they are being told to wait while DPP ministers are busy employing their children and girl friends in government.

The activists said what is paining them most is that those that are eating the fruits of DPP in government are those that were in the forefront insulting and castigating Professor Mutharika’s old age and while them sacrificed their lives to die for Mutharika, them were hiding joining choruses of Boma ndilomweli silikuchoka.

The journalist said Professor Mutharika will walk in the footsteps of Dr. Bakili Muluzi who did not leave behind all those who fought alongside with him against the government of Kamuzu Banda citing people like a Mr. Sauzande, owner of the massive 99 structure and a Mr. Kampala, owner of Kampala buildings in Lilongwe old Town, just to mention a few.

He has assured activists and journalists who fought for Professor Mutharika to be in government today, to take their hearts beside sufferings that for how long it will take, President Professor Mutharika will take them on board.

The journalist has finally appealed to DPP ministers to wear a human face to allow these activists and journalists meet Professor Mutharika in person for him to appreciate the role they played to make him win trust of Malawians for his landslide victory on the 16th September, 2025 elections.
