UTM Party president Dalitso Kabambe has revealed that in his final conversations with the late Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, the former UTM leader expressed deep concern over the growing challenges facing Malawi’s youth and the country’s struggling economy.

Speaking during commemorative activities in honour of Chilima, Kabambe said the late Vice President was troubled by the increasing number of young people entering the labour market while employment opportunities remained limited.Dalitso Kabambe ndi Yankho Lathu la 2030: “Sitifunanso Kulakwisanso,” Atero Amalawi

According to Kabambe, Chilima observed that many young people complete their education with high hopes of securing jobs, only to face disappointment due to a lack of opportunities.

He added that Chilima was equally concerned about the plight of Malawian youths who travel abroad in search of employment, noting that many encounter difficult and exploitative conditions.

Kabambe further said Chilima acknowledged the efforts of young people who have turned to entrepreneurship but lamented that many businesses are struggling, making it difficult for entrepreneurs to improve their livelihoods.

The UTM leader also disclosed that Chilima was worried about rising poverty levels, persistent electricity shortages and other economic challenges that continue to put pressure on ordinary Malawians.Kabambe, Muluzi Clash Over Malawi Flood Management and Economic Challenges

He said the late Vice President believed that the shortage of foreign exchange and the continued depreciation of the Malawi kwacha were negatively affecting businesses and contributing to the country’s economic difficulties.

Kabambe noted that Chilima was particularly concerned about food insecurity, saying many Malawians are struggling to access food, with some rural households increasingly relying on food purchases from urban centres.

He therefore urged UTM supporters and Malawians at large not to lose hope or become discouraged, emphasizing the importance of keeping Chilima’s vision and aspirations for the country alive.Kabambe Urges Women to Embrace Politics as Nation Mourns Chavundikira

“Let us remain committed to the ideals and vision that Dr. Chilima stood for and continue working towards a better Malawi,” Kabambe said.
