Malawi Pharmaceutical Distributors (MPD) has signed a distributorship agreement with global healthcare and pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, a move expected to improve access to quality medicines and strengthen the country’s pharmaceutical supply chain.
Confirming the development in an interview with MBC Digital, MPD Sales and Marketing Manager Andrew Mwase said the partnership means Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical products will now be readily available through local distribution, reducing the country’s reliance on direct imports.Kickbacks From International Pharmaceutical companies CMST To Kill Local Pharmaceutical companies
Mwase said the agreement is expected to improve the availability of medicines while also helping Malawi save foreign exchange by cutting the cost of importing pharmaceutical supplies.
“This partnership will ensure that Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical products are more accessible locally, while contributing to efforts to reduce forex expenditure on medicine imports,” he said.
Pharmaceutical Society of Malawi (PHASOM) President William Mpute has welcomed the partnership, describing it as a significant milestone for the country’s healthcare sector.
Mpute said the collaboration will help bridge medicine supply gaps, improve the availability of essential drugs and support ongoing efforts to strengthen Malawi’s local pharmaceutical supply chain.Kamphangala says MSCA ruling on Mulli Companies a great lesson
