Leadership is all about trust from the people and the trust from the people in politics is measured by numbers. The more you are trusted the more the numbers you have in politics. These numbers on the election date are the voters, or we can refer to them as votes.
Today, I had an opportunity to appreciate how the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has been performing in some districts , from where Bright, the wise one from the East comes from , when he was not into active politics and after he joined frontline politics as the Vice President for the Eastern region for the DPP — the party that we love the most.
Let’s take a look at the recent three General Elections with an emphasis on Presidential elections in the following years; 2020, 2019 and 2014 in the following districts; Zomba, Machinga, Balaka, Ntcheu and Mangochi. These are the districts in a region from where Bright, the wise one from the East, comes from.
ZOMBA DISTRICT
In 2020 –DPP amassed 149,051 presidential votes

In 2014 –DPP amassed 122,615 presidential votes
MACHINGA DISTRICT
In 2020 –DPP amassed 131,439 presidential votes

BALAKA DISTRICT
In 2020 –DPP amassed 76,834 presidential votes

In 2019 and 2020 Presidential elections, Bright, the wise one from the East was put to a litmus test on his political prowess as the political god of the Eastern region. The once accomplished technocrat and established lawyer has shown great political mobilization, which has gained DPP some significant growth in the Eastern region.
I have never been his fan and many must have not liked him but the fact is, Bright, the wise one from the East, in his tenure as the Vice President for the Eastern Region, within a short period of time of being in frontline politics, has made remarkable progress for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) — the party that we love the most.
What a cunning and resourceful politician.
