Country needs visionary leader to transform it.

Entrenched poverty and politics of retrogression without the welfare of people at heart are some evident predicaments oiling Thomas Wezzie Kaumba spirited drive to hastle and tussle for the Presidential position with Former President, Peter Mutharika and Lazarus Chakwera in 2025 tripartite elections.

Wezzie Kaumba who elected as a President of Umodzi Party at convention, was speaking in Blantyre today that people in the country are in deep poverty requiring transformative leadership to bail them out of the current mess.

“I saw the need where the level of poverty is too high due to lack of consistency in creating initiative which can create job opportunities. Again, the people have been deprived of their human rights to everything they could have been easily accessing and they have been made difficult,” explains Kaumba.

He observed that many people engage in politics but there is nothing to show in transforming the people’s lives positively on the ground. Over the years, Kaumba has embarked on some initiatives that have already impacted on rural communities.

For instance, Kaumba has fixed broken boreholes and maintained some roads that made travelling a nightmare in his constituency. He believes he is the missing link for the country transformation.

“The youths are suffering a lot. We need leaders with a vision who can transform this country into a mega hub for commercial farming just to mention a few,” adds Kaumba.

He, however, pledged to initiate programmes to lessen the economic hardships currently haunting many people.

“I’ve always been loyal and faithful. I’m very politically stable and ready to serve,” said Kaumba.

In her remarks, Towera Chisi, Director of elections pledged party support towards Kaumba; saying he has been with them through thick and thin.

“What he l can do now is to step aside; arguing he has failed to run the country. How Chakwera fails to come to the rescue of poor Malawians with tangible solutions when they are struggling to buy a 50 kilogram bag of maize at K50 000,” she said.

She added that due to Chakwera’s lack of vision for the country, his administration can’t devise sensible solutions to the prevailing economic mess.
