MISA Malawi Condemns TV Islam’s Journalist Assault

MISA Malawi chapter has called on Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football club to discipline its supporters allegedly for assaulting TV Islam journalist, Yasin Limu.

It is alleged that the supporters assaulted Limu at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre when the team was about to face Kamuzu Barracks in the 2024 TNM Super League season.

Apart from assaulting the journalist, it is also alleged that they damaged a camera tripod stand for the TV station.

“Barbaric acts against journalists in their line of duty should not be tolerated,” says MISA Malawi chairperson, Golden Matonga in a statement issued Monday.

Reports say the incident happened when the supporters were chasing sports reporters out of place normally reserved for media covering games.

Meanwhile, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Supporters committee chairperson, Mervin Nkunika was not available to comment on the matter as our calls went unanswered on several attempts.
