Immigration authorities in Lilongwe in conjunction with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have repatriated the fourth phase of 39 Ethiopian nationals through Kamuzu International Airport.National Public Relations Officer for the Department of Immigration, Pasqually Zulu, said the exercise which is being supported by both the governments of Malawi and Ethiopia managed to repatriate 39 Ethiopian nationals who were supposed to be repatriated last week Friday. Minister of Finance, Sosten Gwengwe and Irish Ambassador to Malawi, Seamus O'Grady, have signed a grant agreement of over K20 billion to support the implementation of Social Cash Transfer programmes in Ntcheu and Balaka districts.The over K20 billion grant is an increase from the K13 billion the Irish Government pumped into the programme in the past years.Speaking during the signing ceremony O'Grady said his government is committed to continuing to assist Malawi in various development programmes.In his remarks, Gwengwe said the support by the Irish government signifies the cordial working relationship between the two countries.He said the support will go a long way in addressing the many challenges the rural masses in Malawi face.
