The National Planning Commission is set to award Former President Bakili Muluzi for among other things, leading the setting-up of governance institutions like the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB), the office of the Ombudsman and Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), among others. Director General of the Commission Thomas Munthali says the Inter-generational Development Champion award is also in recognition of the former president’s initiation of Vision 2020, on which the Malawi 2063 (MW2063) agenda is built. Muluzi is also credited for introducing inclusive socio-economic empowerment initiatives such as free primary school education. The commission says the award will be handed to Muluzi soon.

Former president of the republic of Malawi HE. Dr. BAKILI MULUZI has contributed 'K5 MILLION' towards Chiwanja Cha Ayao annual festival. Muluzi, who is also the patron of Chi Wanja Cha a Yao made a contribution through a fundraising secretary Smith_Kamwana.
