The Malawi National Football team (the Flames) is set to face Guinea in Conakry in the Africa Cup of Nations-Afcon 2023 qualifiers at six O’clock this evening. This is the Flames’ second match in the campaign after beating Ethiopia 2-1 at home on Sunday. The Flames arrived in Conakry on Tuesday ahead of their showdown against Guinea.

The Malawi National Football Team (The Flames) have beaten Ethiopia by 2 goals to 1 in the first African Cup of Nations Qualifiers played at Bingu National Stadium (BNS). Both goals were scored by Gabadinho Mhango from the penalty spot. President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera as well as Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima watched the match at the BNS which was filled for the first time by Malawians who came from all corners of Malawi as well Ethiopians who reside in Malawi. In his remarks, the Head of the Flames' technical team, Mario Marinica, commended the team for the effort.
