Malawi National Football Team will face Burkina Faso without captain John Banda, Dennis Chembezi and Macdonald Lameck due to yellow card suspensions.

The Flames will host Burkina Faso in a dead- rubber 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations ( Afcon) qualifier at Bingu National Stadium on Monday.

The trio is suspended having accumulated two yellow cards each in the previous two matches against Senegal and Burundi.

This is according to a communication from Caf which Times Sport has seen. Flames interim coach Kalisto Pasuwa has described it as a big blow.

However, Pasuwa says he has several options.

“We are having three suspensions on those who started against Burundi which is a big challenge for us.

“But this is a game we have to fulfill and we called 23 players who are in camp so that they can show that they want to be part of the national team,” Pasuwa said ahead of the match.

The Flames anchor Group L with one point following a goal-less stalemate against Burundi on Thursday whereas Burkina Faso are second with 10 points.

Senegal lead the group with 13 points whereas Burundi are third with four points.
