He said: “We are expecting the delivery by Friday, but some of them are replacements of the passport booklets that Techno Brain used when it took over management of the passport issuance system. These were bought by Immigration Department using government money.”
Chakaka-Nyirenda, who ordered the cancellation of the contract in December 2021, said the contract remains terminated and that he needed time to check with the Treasury on monetary demands Techno Brain was making for the al...
Attorney General Thambo Chakaka Nyirenda has said he will defend the civil case in which Timothy Ntilosanje, boyfriend of the late Kotanna Chidyaonga, has sued the police for malicious imprisonment and damage of reputation.

Nyirenda says when the case starts it will reveal a lot of hidden truths.
Concerned citizens in Zomba has called on President Lazarus Chakwera to remove Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma over her audio clip.
The concerned citizens took their stand on the Chizuma case on Friday at Zomba Gymkhana Club during a press briefing which was led by Patrick Majawa who is chairperson of the concerned citizens.
Majawa said Chizuma should pack up and go for divulging what was supposed to be kept under wrap.
“Capital hill should have proceeded to relieve the ACB Boss for failing to promote the Malawian interest and also failing to uphold the decorum required of her office as evidenced in her careless conversing with a friend over serious matters under her prosecution.
“We appeal to the President to simply effect the rules that govern th...
The newly-minted Minister of Information and Digitization, Moses Kunkuyu, has responded to a statement released by the United States (US) Embassy in Lilongwe on the fight against corruption in Malawi.
In a publicized statement intended to notify the public, Kunkuyu says Malawi Government rather engage the United States Government through diplomatic channels following US Embassy’s Facebook-posted statement pronouncing displeasure over the developments happening with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma.
Secretary to the Office of President and Cabinet communicated an interdiction to the ACB DG to pave way for smooth court cases that she is answering.
In a letter to Chizuma, SPC Colleen Zamba said her office had received communication that Chizuma is ans...
By Sylvester ChibwanaMartha Chizuma is the master manipulator. She knows that she has nothing to show for her pomp and so she always rushes to throw a victim card when exposed. So far so good as her trick has worked. She has managed to make Malawians overlook her incompetence thereby sympathising with her and blaming the government for witch hunting in the process.
She has always been in the news for wrong reasons yet she has registered zero success as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Chizuma has only succeeded in finding Steve Kayuni’s reluctance to grant her consent to go ahead with some outstanding cases. Now that Kayuni is no longer the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the ACB does not need to seek consent from the DPP, one would have expected that Chi...
A group of CSOs under the banner of Citizens for Justice and Equity has welcomed the decision by the government to interdict the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Martha Chizuma saying justice must prevail as she breached the oath of office through the leak audio.
Reading a press statement in Lilongwe, one of the group members Fredrick Malata also said for close to two years there is no case that Chizuma has finalised saying the interdiction is, therefore a welcomed development.
The group adds that interdiction does not mean dismissal but a temporary suspension which means she can still go back to her office if vindicated by a court of law.
Malata said how Steven Kayuni was fired for abusing and violating office rules, and Chizuma too needs to face the same treatment.
As if not to die without crying, the ACB Director who has been allegedly interdicted yesterday has flashed out warrants of arrest for the former Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Steven Kayuni, and Senior State Prosecutor, Dzikondianthu Malunga on social media.
According to the purported warrants of arrest obtained on 31st January 2023 by the ACB and have been deposited into social media, the ACB is accusing Dr. Kayuni and Advocate Malunda of abusing the office to their advantage.
While others have argued that the depositing of these warrants into the social media before serving their purpose confirms the carelessness of the ACB Director in handling crucial information, others have argued that the move signifies her feeling of being powerless following the interdiction thereby “s...
Some renowned facebook and social media users are alleging and spreading false narrative that Malawi Government has interdicted Director General Martha Chizuma upon reports that she obtained warrant of arrest of some senior Government officials from the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
For the starters Chizuma was last year caught red handed discussing very sensitive matters on the telephone calls with an individual.
During the discussions, Chizuma vomited everything on her to do list and what she has accomplished already.
Chizuma openly diverged unprofessional conduct of some judges which angered the judiciary a thing against the ACB code of conduct.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General, Martha Chizuma has been interdicted with effect from January 31 2023.
A letter signed by the Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba says Chizuma’s interdiction follows the criminal case which she is answering before the Lilongwe Chief Magistrate’s Court, pertaining to the leaked audio.
Law expert Jivason Kadzipatike says it is normal for a person working in the public service to be interdicted if they are answering criminal charges in court.
"You would not expect the ACB Director to be an exception. It was going to be awkward if government allowed her to continue working while answering criminal charges. People should differentiate the Office of the Vice President, which is regulated by the Constitution and the offi...
