
8.8 billion kwacha Injected To Fight Against Gender Based Violence
A whopping 8.8 billion kwacha which is approximately 4 million pounds has been injected into the country to support the fight against gender-based violence.The grant, provided by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), will support a four-and-a-half-year program called Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza (PKN).The PKN program which will be implemented by a consortium of three local women's rights organizations - Women's Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC), Girls Empowerment Network (GENET), and Human Rights for Women and Girls with Disabilities (WAG) is aimed at reducing the prevalence of intimate partner violence (IPV) in selected traditional authorities in Lilongwe and Balaka.Speaking to MIJ Online Anne Gathumbi, Global Director for What Works to Prevent Violence, expr...
