Street children have been known for terrorizing people, steal money and valuables from their victims in all the three cities of Malawi for the last couple of years.

In 2029, Police in Blantyre arrested two street children aged 15 and 16 for breaking into National Bank of Malawi Blantyre head office, Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) offices and Blantyre Agricultural Development Division (ADD) offices where several computer accessories were reportedly stolen.

Last year, Limbe and Blantyre experienced a rise in robberies and murder cases suspected to have been carried out by the street kids

As one way of curbing the surge in criminal offences carried out by these kids, the Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Patricia Kaliati, issued a two-week ultimatum to irresponsible parents to remove their children from the streets or risk arrest.

However, less has been done as the number of street children moving in the cities of Malawi is still on an increase.“`
