Police Warns Public Against Mob Justice

Authorities at the police headquarters have warned the public against executing mob justice on suspects, saying it is a criminal offence.

This follows growing cases of mob justice on people suspected to have committed various offences, amid a spate of armed robberies and killings.

The latest incident happened in Nthalire in Chitipa district, where a person suspected to have stolen a motorcycle was beaten and torched to death.

The suspect was taken away from the police who had arrested him for stealing the motorcycle and injuring the owner.

National Deputy Police Publicist Harry Namwaza, has appealed to the public to always hand over suspected criminals to the police and not take the law into their own hands.
