The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) is lobbying for an audience with President Lazarus Chakwera over the prevailing socio-economic challenges.

The quasi-religious grouping, which often dialogues with the President on matters of public interest, recently took Chakwera to task over issues related to the composition and performance of his cabinet.

PAC insists that worsening corruption in the country is fuelling economic hardships among Malawians, citing the continued spike in prices of basic products and services.

Despite a warning by the authorities for manufacturers and traders to reduce the prices, cooking oil prices for instance continue to soar between K6,000 and K10,000 for a 2-litre bottle.

As if that is not enough, some essential consumer products are becoming scarce day-by-day in various shops apparently due to a lack of forex in the country.

PAC Spokesperson, Gilford Matoga, has told Capital FM that their secretariat is engaging State House to fix an appointment with the President.
