High Court Judge Redson Kapindu has adjourned to 25th July a Cement-gate case involving the irregular use of former president Peter Mutharika’s Tax Payer Identification Number (TPIN).
Yesterday, four accused persons namely Mutharika’s former personal bodyguard Norman Chisale, former State Residences director general Peter Mukhitho, reinstated Malawi Revenue Authority Deputy Commissioner General Roza Mbilizi and businessman Shafee Ahmed Chunara appeared before Kapindu to take plea but failed because the defense said it had preliminary issues which it would like to raise.
The Court has since given the defense seven days to file the preliminary objections in writing.
Speaking after the adjournment, Dr Steven Kayuni -Director of Public Prosecution- said they will wait for the objections to be filed.
