Malawi’s Director of Information, Chikumbutso Mtumodzi, has called upon all SADC Media Awards national park a organizing committee chairs, from SADC member states, to ensure full participation, saying the process should be given the quality time it deserves.
Speaking during the virtual opening of the 27th Regional Adjudication Committee (RAC) meeting for the SADC Media Awards, Mtumodzi said the stakeholders have the obligation to maintain the best standards of the adjudication process as a way of maintaining the integrity of the awards.
Mtumodzi is also Malawi’s SADC National Media Coordinator.
“The Awards remain one of the key ways with which regional integration is promoted among citizens of the region, in terms of bringing awareness of projects and indeed benefits of integration,” he reiterated.
He was quick to add that the awards are a pillar of the SADC Communication Strategy which seeks to ensure that all citizens of the member states are familiar with the goals and objectives of the regional grouping and benefit from it.
“The awards are not just about motivating journalists to write on issues of integration, but rather getting them involved with the SADC agenda.
“The task before us is huge and requires that we give it enough time and thorough dedication to ensure that the best entries win” Mtumodzi said.
