Some Tonse Alliance partners are calling for a dialogue meeting to resolve their differences on the agreements made in the year 2020.
Two key partners the Malawi Congress Party-MCP and UTM have come out in the open to fight over the power sharing deal.
The 9-member alliance led by President Lazarus Chakwera, managed to oust the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the 2020 fresh elections.
After keeping the alliance document under wraps for 2 years, Vice President Saulos Chilima who is also the UTM leader, revealed its contents on Friday.
Among other issues, Chilima revealed that Chakwera is supposed to be a one term president and that the VP is to run as the presidential candidate in 2025.
He further indicated that in the event that the alliance falls apart, Malawians have to vote again to elect the country’s president.
But the MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka argues that the party is not aware of that agreement.
President of Umodzi Party, a member of the alliance, John Chisi has also expressed shocked with the development.
Meanwhile, People’s Party through its spokesperson Ackson Kalaile Banda refused to comment on the development, saying the agreement was between UTM and MCP.
