Government Geared To Support Tourism Industry

President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellence Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says his Government is offering unwavering commitment and support to the tourism industry in Malawi as a central piece in ATM Strategy for revolutionizing the three sectors of Agriculture, Tourism and Mining (ATM) to boost the productivity.

President Chakwera said this in Lilongwe during the closing ceremony of the 2023 TAKULANDIRANI MALAWI INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXPO.

Chakwera also said that the government has taken some measures to support the tourism industry in Malawi, citing as examples, the removal of visa fees for tourists from 16 key source markets and the signing of bilateral agreements with countries in the region such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and South Africa to facilitate development.

The President added that Malawi is the home of a wide variety of wildlife, including the big 5 found in its game reserves.
