Muluzi Storms Mangochi

The United Democratic Front (UDF) is holding a political rally at St August 3 Primary School Ground in Mangochi to commemorate its 30 years anniversary.

Former president of the party, Atupele Muluzu, current president Lilian Patel, Yusuf Mwawa and Abubaka M’baya are among the people at rally.

The UDF was in government for 11 years and has spent 19 years in opposition.

UDF went out of government in 2005 after Bingu wa Mutharika, who won the 2004 elections on UDF ticket, dumped the party and formed his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

M’baya, who is National Organising Secretary for the party, says UDF is credited for bringing alot of development in Malawi such as Mzuzu University and Masaf projects which were assisting people financially.

He mentioned Mzuzu, Nkhotakota, Thyolo and Chiradzulo Hospitals as some of the flagship initiatives in the health sector.

Taking his turn, Muluzi says Malawians should guard the freedom which they have to choose leaders to govern then.

He says Malawians should be able to exercise their powers to chose leaders who will show direction of the country.
