Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has asked to meet Sylvester Namiwa, Executive Director for Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative CDEDI over a planned vigil on the duped taxpayer’s money amounting to 750 million kwacha meant for AIP.
This comes barely hours after CDEDI announced that from next week Monday the grouping will start holding vigil at AG’s entrance in capitol hill.
Namiwa said the essence of the vigil is for Nyirenda to show proof that the money was recovered or resign if the funds which were allegedly paid to a conman have not been traced.
Meanwhile, in a letter made available to Nyirenda has asked to meet Namiwa today (Friday) from 11am in Lilongwe.
According to Nyirenda, the meeting is meant to clarify more on the recovery process of money as it is involving courts.
Namiwa has since acknowledged receipt of the letter and says he will attend the meeting.
